I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

"Why?" my daughter asked.

"Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied.

At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?"

"Uh," I was thinking quickly, "All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy." We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

"OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be the daddy."

"Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart.

Well it must have a video card otherwise you would not have a screen at all, but yes probably a very basic one.
Trouble with laptops is the bloody manufacturers never update the GFX drivers and for a lot of games you need to do this, especially BF3, which needs the very latest drivers installed to work. Absolute minimum for BF3 GFX wise are the Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher and you would need low res and low settings to use those cards.

Ive updated the drivers from the hp website, the software from the Ati site does not work with the laptop.
Either way its a good excuse to do a massive upgrade that I've wanted to do forever!
Its a Hp Compaq 8510P
Mobility radeon HD2600
Core2Duo T9300 @ 2.5Ghz
2 Gig ram

The other laptop has an I5, no video card as far as I can tell.

Assuming you mean BF3 and the laptop has a decent enough GFX card then you need updated drivers for the GFX. Laptops always have way out of date drivers even gaming ones.

Nope you can only digital download it on Origin.
As you need Origin running to play BF3 you may as well do it that way, so long as EAs Origin price is not too nasty.
Dload is 11Gb and can be resumed.
